In 1930 this house was owned by Robert Dodge, a 57-year old lawyer. Robert lived with his 54-year old wife Alice and their four daughters: 28-year old Katherine, a physician with a general practice; 27-year old Eleanor, a teacher at a private school; 22-year old Sarah, a violinist; and 19-year old Alice. Four servants were employed by the Dodges: 39-year old Gertrude Merrifield (born in Canada), 33-year old Katherine McCarthy (born in Ireland), 51-year old Isabella McDuff (born in Scotland), and 41-year old Agnes Rae (born in Scotland).
