The 1916 Bromley Atlas shows William Munroe as the owner of this building.

The 1925 City Directory lists Thomas Harney, a caretaker, as a resident of 471 Washington. Carrie Hoitt, the widow of George Hoitt, is listed as a resident of 473 Washington.

The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows J. and K.S. Twomey as the owners of this house.

In 1930 this house was owned by John Mekle, a 61-year old baker from Scotland. John lived in 473 Washington with his 62-year old Scottish wife Mary and their three children: 27-year old James, a baker; 35-year old daughter Annie, a salesgirl in a bakery; and 25-year old Jean, a salesgirl in a bakery. 471 Washington was rented for $55 a month by Ellen O'Connor, a 66-year old widow from Newfoundland. Ellen lived with her 37-year old daughter Margaret, a comparison shopper for a dry goods company; 33-year old daughter Nalvina; 35-year old divorced daughter Lillian Bogan, a telephone operator for the Federal Government; 14-year old granddaughter Ellen Bogan; and 12-year old granddaughter Margaret Mary Bogan. The building was valued at $12,500.
