In 1930 this house was owned by Margaret Burns, a 70-year old widow from England. Margaret lived in 24 Turner with her two daughters: 53-year old Catherine, a governess; and 49-year old Margaret, a teacher. 22 Turner was rented for $55 a month by Harry VanTassel, a 44-year old from Canada who worked for an ice company. Harry lived with his 35-year old Canadian wife Blanche; 11-year old son Bevis; and two boarders: 20-year old Vernon Bremmer, an ice company employee; and 16-year old Garret Bremmer, a nail factory worker. The building was valued at $10,000.
