This house was built sometime after 1925. The 1916 Bromley Atlas shows Leo Purtle as the owner of the empty lot where this house was built. The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows Philip Long as the owner of the empty lot this house was built on. In 1930 this house was owned by Joseph Toohill, a 35-year old shipper for a department store. Joseph lived with his 30-year old wife Elizabeth, a clerk for the telephone company; and his 82-year old Irish uncle, Cornelius Buckley. Part of this house was rented for $65 a month by Daniel Sax, a 57-year old paint salesman. Daniel lived with his 60-year old wife Isabel (born in Maine) and their two children: 28-year old Arnold, a musician; and 26-year old Lillian, a clerk for a gas company. The building was valued at $14,000. |
