|
This brick multi-family house was built around 1925 and rises two stories to an asphalt roof. The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows Thomas Connolly et al as the owners of the empty lot where this house was built. In 1930 this house was owned by Mary Burke, a 62-year old widow. Mary lived in 19 Rose Garden with her three children: 32-year old Marcus, a dentist; 30-year old Mary, a stenographer for US Customs; and 27-year old Edward. Part of 21 Rose Garden was rented for $80 a month by James Farrell, a 38-year old sales agent for a building materials company. James lived with his 36-year old wife Rose Ann and their three children: 9-year old Ann, 5-year old Jane, and 2-year old Seamus. Another part of 21 Rose Garden was rented for $85 a month by Harry Mintz, a 56-year old from Russia who was the president of the New England Bedding Company. Harry lived with his 56-year old Russian wife Mary and their three children: 28-year old Isabelle, a bookkeeper for a music company; 28-year old Alexander, a mattress manufacturer; and 21-year old Martha. The building was valued at $12,000. |
