This brick multi-family house was built around 1925 and rises two stories to an asphalt roof.

The and 1916 Bromley Atlas and 1925 Bromley Atlas show the Rivett Lathe & Grinder Company as the owner of a wood frame building that occupied this corner lot.

In 1930 part of this house was rented for $50 a month by Joseph LeMaire, a 39-year old gas station owner from French Canada. Joseph lived in 40 Ranelegh with his 37-year old French Canadian wife Alice; 12-year old daughter Jean; 39-year old brother-in-law Joseph Parquerette; 15-year old nephew Arthur Parquerette; and 9-year old niece Annette Parquerette.
