30-32 Ranelegh Road

This multi-family house was built around 1925 and rises two stories to an asphalt roof.

The 1916 Bromley Atlas and 1925 Bromley Atlas show the Rivett Lathe and Grinder Company as the owner of the empty lot this house was built on.

In 1930 this house was owned by James Lapsley, a 39-year old auto salesman. James lived in 32 Ranelegh with his 38-year old wife Catherine and their four daughters: 11-year old Gertrude, 8-year old Grace, 4-year old Marion, and 1-year old Phyllis. 30 Ranelegh was rented for $45 a month by Louis Costello, a 34-year old bookkeeper for an auto company. Louis lived with his 33-year old wife Yvonne (born in New Hampshire); 28-year old brother-in-law Edward Bouchard (born in French Canada); 13-year old niece Lillian Thurber (born in French Canada), and 3-year old daughter Elaine. The building was valued at $11,500.
