Williams as the owners of the empty lot where this house was built. The 1925 City Directory lists Thomas Burk, a fireman, as a resident of 85 Perthshire. Joseph Callahan, a brakeman for the New York, New Hampshire, and Hartford Railroad; and James Evans, a state boiler inspector, are listed as residents of 87 Perthshire. The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows Thomas Burke as the owner of this house. In 1930 this house was owned by Thomas Burke, a 48-year old from Ireland who worked as an equipment operator for a gas company. Thomas lived in 85 Perthshire with his 48-year old wife Delia. 87 Perthshire was rented for $55 a month by Mary Reed, a 56-year old widow from Ireland. Mary lived with her five children: 33-year old Henry, a draftsman; 30-year old Catherine, a stenographer for an automobile company; 24-year old Margaret, a stenographer for a box manufacturer; 20-year old Pauline, a typist for a confectionary company; and 19-year old William, an automobile salesman. The building was valued at $9,000. |
