In 1930 part of this house was rented for $38 a month by Catherine Rafferty, a 53-year old widow from Ireland. Catherine lived with her 65-year old brother-in-law Thomas, a laborer at odd jobs; 28-year old son Thomas, a men's clothing salesman; 24-year old daughter Agnes, an operator for the telephone company; 22-year old son Edward, a driver for a soda fountain; 20-year old son John, a packer for an engraving company; 18-year old daughter Margaret; and 13-year old son George. Another part of this house was rented for $32 a month by Robert Blythe, a 25-year old auto mechanic from Ireland. Robert lived with his 25-year old wife Vera (born in Northern Ireland) and their 1-year old daughter Anne.
