|
This brick multi-family house was built around 1925 and rises two stories to an asphalt roof. A renovation was performed in 1982. Through at least 1925, this house was addressed as 6-8 Holton Street. The 1916 Bromley Atlas shows Johanna Johnson as the owner of the empty lot where this house was built. The 1925 City Directory lists Edward Russell, a clerk; Mary Russell, the widow of John Russell; Thomas Russell, a salesman; and William Russell, a musician, as residents of 8 Oliva. The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows H.L. Glickman as the owner of the empty lot this house was built on. In 1930 this house was owned by Samuel Glickman, a 50-year old from Russia who owned a newsstand. Samuel lived in 8 Oliva with his 43-year old Russian wife Helen and their four children: 22-year old Edith, a stenographer; 20-year old Leon, a machinist; 18-year old Lester; and 16-year old Edward. 6 Oliva was rented for $50 a month by William Donovan, a 34-year old Boston policeman. William lived with his 26-year old Canadian wife Anna. The building was valued at $15,000. |
