This multi-family house was built in 1930 and rises two stories to an asphalt roof. The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows Edward Finlay as the owner of the empty lot this house was built on. In 1930 this house was owned by John Hurley, a 42-year old from Ireland who worked as a Post Office clerk. John lived with his 35-year old wife Mary and their six children: 11-year old Mary, 10-year old Julia, 9-year old John, 5-year old Catherine, and 1-year old James. Part of this house was rented for $45 a month by Catherine Manion, a 60-year old widow from Ireland. Catherine lived with her three children: 28-year old James, a steel moulder; 25-year old Bernard, an inspector for the Radio Tube Company; and 22-year old Catherine, a stenographer for the telephone company. The building was valued at $11,000. |
