This brick multi-family house was built around 1925 and rises two stories to an asphalt roof. The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows Edward Finlay as the owner of the empty lot this house was built on. In 1930 this house was owned by James Cotter, a 50-year old yard man for the City of Boston. James lived with his 49-year old sister Margaret, a switchboard operator for the telephone company; and 47-year old sister Mary. Part of this house was rented for $50 a month by Edward Cotter, a 57-year old assistant drawtender at a city bridge. Edward lived with his 52-year old wife Margaret and their four daughters: 24-year old Gertrude, a registered nurse; 25-year old Margaret, a clerk for the telephone company; 21-year old Alice, a clerk for an insurance company; and 17-year old Eileen. The building was valued at $7,900. |
