72 Oakland Street

This multi-family house was built in 1890 and rises two stories to an asphalt roof.

The 1925 City Directory lists Lewis Lenkner, a steel worker; and Paul Merson, a printer, as residents of this house.

The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows Lewis and Anna Lenkner as the owners of this house.

In 1930 this house was owned by Anna Linkner, a 45-year old from Pennsylvania. Anna lived with her 29-year old daughter Jean, a secretary for a machinery company; 21-year old son Allen, a mechanic for a machinery company; and 11-year old daughter Anna. Part of this house was rented for $45 a month by Sarah Clifford, a 79-year old widow from New Hampshire. Sarah lived with her 46-year old widowed daughter Grace Morrow, a secretary for an insurance company. The building was valued at $9,000.
