This Colonial house was built in 1899 and rises two stories to an asphalt roof. A renovation was performed in 1987. The 1916 Bromley Atlas shows James Shea as the owner of this house. The 1925 City Directory lists James Shea, an instructor for the Boston Athletic Association; and John Shea, a clerk, as residents of this house. The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows J.H. Shea as the owner of this house. The 1930 Census lists James Shea, a 70-year old swimming instructor from New Jersey, as the owner of this house. James lived with his 59-year old Irish wife Ellen and their three children: 30-year old Mary, a commecial artist; 28-year old Joseph, a bakery foreman; and 25-year old John, an engraver. The building was valued at $6,000. |
