The 1925 City Directory lists Harold Morgan, a bookkeeper for the National Union Bank as a resident of 5 Oak Square; and Leah Hathaway, a beauty parlor employee, as a resident of 7 Oak Square. The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows T.H. and C. Savage as the owners of this wood frame house. The 1930 Census lists Serkis Chutchian, a 37-year old life insurance salesman from Armenia, as the owner of this house. Serkis lived in 5 Oak Square with his 25-year old Armenian wife Nuves and their two sons: 3-year old Zaben and 1-year old Zareh. Part of 7 Oak Square was rented for $35 a month by Margaret Cleary, a 26-year old widow. Margaret lived with her two children: 3-year old Mary and 2-year old John. Another part of 7 Oak Square was rented for $50 a month by Sooltan Barberian, a 58-year old widow from Armenia. Sooltan lived with her five children: 34-year old Hoogas, a box maker; 25-year old Arshag, a worker in a shoe factory; 23-year old Harry, a tobacco salesman; 21-year old Vasken, a laborer for an automobile company; and 14-year old Mary. The building was valued at $12,000. |
