This three-story brick multi-family house was built in 1910. The 1925 City Directory lists James Clark, a gardener; William Clark, a police officer; James Costello, a teacher; Lawrence Costello, a florist; Michael Costello, a florist; and George Lynch, a machinist, as residents of this house. The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows James Clark et al as the owners of this house. In 1930 this house was owned by James Clark, a 65-year old gardener from Scotland. James lived with his 60-year old Canadian wife Annie and their 33-year old adopted son William, a Boston policeman. Part of this house was rented for $38 a month by Martin McHale, a 38-year old painter from Ireland. Martin lived with his 39-year old Irish wife Nora and their 7-year old son Thomas. Another part of this house was rented for $40 a month by Lawrence Morette, a 45-year old truck driver. Lawrence lived with his 45-year old English wife Nora and their three children: 22-year old Anna, a bookkeeper; 19-year old Lawrence, a truck driver; and 9-year old Walter. The building was valued at $9,000. |
