This multi-family house was built in 1900 and rises three stories to an asphalt roof.

The 1916 Bromley Atlas shows Charles Bolles as the owner of this house.

The 1925 City Directory lists John O'Keefe, a clerk, as a resident of 39 Newcastle. Christopher O'Keefe, a salesman; and Patrick O'Keefe, a laborer, are listed as residents of 41 Newcastle.

In 1930 this house was owned by Patrick O'Keefe, a 62-year old from Ireland who worked as a foreman for the electric company. Patrick lived in 41 Newcastle with his four children: 34-year old Timothy, a lawyer; 32-year old Christopher, a proprietor of an automotive shop; 26-year old Cornelius, a public school teacher; and 24-year old Elizabeth, a public school teacher. 39 Newcastle was rented for $35 a month by John O'Keefe, a 35-year old paymaster for an electrical firm. John lived with his 35-year old Irish wife Delia and their four children: 10-year old Helen, 7-year old Margaret, 5-year old Ann, and 4-year old John Junior. The building was valued at $12,000.
