The 1925 City Directory lists Charles Jones, a butcher, as a resident of 3 Newcastle; and Charles Merry, a wholesale grocer, as a resident of 5 Newcastle.

In 1930 this house was owned by Charles Jones, a 64-year old butcher from Maine. Charles lived with his 61-year old wife Jennie (born in Maine) and their 31-year old daughter Mildred, a stenographer for a statistics company. The building was valued at $7,000.
