This two-family house was designed by Porter & Traylor and built in 1927 by M.J. Sheehy for M.J. Sheehy & O'Connor. This 2.5 story wood house rises 35 feet from a 20 inch stone foundation to a hip roof covered by asphalt shingles. During construction, the plans were amended to include a two-car garage designed by M. Kennedy. The house was built at a cost of $8,000. The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows Thomas Connolly et al as the owners of the empty lot where this house was built. In 1930 this house was owned by Isaac Rich, a 51-year old accountant. Isaac lived in 16 Kirkwood with his 50-year old Austrian wife Etta and their 14-year old daughter Hazel. 18 Kirkwood was rented for $85 a month by Samuel Krensky, a 41-year old dentist. Samuel lived with his 30-year old wife Pauline and their two children: 5-year old Edward and 2-year old Marjorie. The building was valued at $20,000. By 1945 this house was owned by M. Rich. In 1945 the house was re-roofed with asphalt shingles. By 2006 the house was owned by Misha Salganik, and converted to two condo units. In 2006 the house was re-roofed with asphalt shingles. |
