This brick multi-family house was built in 1895 and rises three stories to an asphalt roof. The 1916 Bromley Atlas shows Nellie Dwyer as the owner of this house. The 1925 City Directory lists William Geddis, an engineer, as a resident of 229 Faneuil. The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows N.M. Dwyer as the owner of this house. In 1930 this house was owned by William Dwyer, a 60-year old chauffeur. William lived in 227 Faneuil with his 52-year old Irish wife Allen and their three children: 21-year old William, 20-year old Mary, and 12-year old Frances. 229 Faneuil was rented for $22 a month by Florence Crousse, a 26-year old department store salesgirl from Canada. Florence lived with her 14-year old sister Hilda (born in Canada) and 27-year old Olive Osborne, a boarder from Canada who worked as a dressmaker in a department store. The building was valued at $11,000. |
