This brick multi-family house was built in 1910 and rises three stories to an asphalt roof. A renovation was performed in 1984. The 1916 Bromley Atlas lists Elizabeth Driscoll as the owner of this house. The 1925 City Directory lists William Driscoll, an accountant; and Frederick Sweeney, a manager, as residents of 183 Faneuil. Marcus Madden, a police officer, is listed as a resident of 185 Faneuil. The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows E.J. Driscoll as the owner of this house. In 1930 part of this house was rented for $26 a month by John Sweeney, a 64-year old Welsh foreman for the City of Boston. John lived in 183 Faneuil with his 64-year old sister-in-law Elizabeth Driscoll. 185 Faneuil was rented for $38 a month by William Royle, a 35-year old plumber from England. William lived wtih his 29-year old English wife Dorothy and their two sons: 9-year old Maxwell and 4-year old Stanley. |
