37-39 Claymoss Road is a two-family house that was designed by Weinbaum and Wexler and built by Arthur Gradone in 1925 for speculative sale. This 2.5-story wood house rises 33 feet from a stone foundation to a hipped asphalt shingle roof. The cost of construction was $10,000. In 1925, a two-car concrete block garage was built with a concrete foundation and a flat asphalt roof. The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows Robert Ryder, Trustee, as the owner of this house. In 1930 this house was rented for $80 a month by Barney Davis, a 40-year old real estate broker from Russia. Barney lived with his 39-year old wife Esther (born in Romania) and their two daughters: 16-year old Marian and 14-year old Edith. By 1945 this house was owned by H. Squire. In 1945 the steps and floors of the rear piazza were rebuilt. By 1975 this house was owned by Joseph Wong. In 1975 the house was re-roofed with asphalt shingles. |
