This multi-family house was built in 1910 and rises two stories to an asphalt roof.

The 1916 Bromley Atlas shows Vie Bumford as the owner of this house.

The 1925 City Directory lists James Emery, a clerk; and Mary Tilton, as residents of 70 Brooks. Robert Dickey, a rubber worker; and Thomas Dickey are listed as residents of 72 Brooks.

In 1930 this house was owned by Mary Grase, a 55-year old widow. Mary lived in 72 Brooks with her three children: 31-year old Mary, a pianist in a theater; 28-year old Evelyn, a stenographer for an insurance company; and 25-year old Joseph an auto mechanic. 70 Brooks was rented for $35 a month by Walter Ruggles, a 42-year old auto mechanic. Walter lived with his 40-year old wife Helen and their 17-year old son William, a clerk for an engineering company. The building was valued at $9,500.
