92-94 Beechcroft Street

This three-story multi-family house was built around 1925.

The 1916 Bromley Atlas shows Frank Taylor and Carrie Nesmith as the owners of the land where this house was built.

The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows Edward Findlay as the owner of the empty lot this house was built on.

In 1930 this house was owned by James Topalia, a 52-year old barber from Greece. James lived in 94 Beechcroft with his 36-year old Greek wife Tina and their five children: 13-year old William, 6-year old Anastasia, 5-year old Nicholas, 3-year old John, and 1-year old Helen. Part of 92 Beechcroft was rented for $45 a month by Stephen Burns, a 30-year old clerk for an express company. Stephen lived with his 28-year old Canadian wife Margaret. Another part of 92 Beechcroft was rented for $47.50 a month by Mendel Galman, a 42-year old department store salesman from Connecticut. Mendel lived with his 41-year old wife Elizabeth and their two daughters: 21-year old Dorothy, a cashier in a drug store; and 14-year old Helena. The building was valued at $10,000.
