10-12 Barker Street

10-12 Barker Street was originally a two-story storage barn of unknown origins. It was converted to a two-family house for Maria Totaro in 1928 by Clarence Walters from plans developed by Anthony Totaro. The reworked wood structure rises 36 feet from a stone foundation to a hipped slate roof. The cost of the conversion was $3,500.

This multi-family house was built in 1935 and rises two stories to an asphalt roof. A renovation was performed in 1971.

The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows Murtagh Farrell as the owner of a wooden stable that occupied this lot.

By 1985 this house was owned by Lyudmila Andrew.

In 1985 the owner was cited for using the property as a lodging house without having obtained theproper occupancy permits.

By 1992 this house was owned by S. Alievsky.

In 1992 the owner requested a permit to finish the attic as a living space. The permit was denied by the Board of Appeals.

In 1998 the owner was cited for failing to obtain a permit to build a bathroom and bedroom in the cellar, and was forced to remove them.
