This building was designed by Parker, Thomas, and Rice and built in 1928 for Isaac Burr. It replaced an 1879 house designed by Peabody and Stearns.

In 1930 this house was owned by Isaac Burr, a 71-year old investment banker. Isaac lived with his 68-year old wife Alice and four servants: 48-year old Anna Mattson (born in Sweden), 20-year old Singa Swanson (born in Sweden), 49-year old Jeanne Ody (born in Canada), and 52-year old Augusta Kaallberg (born in Sweden). The building was valued at $100,000.
