Arlington Street
Marking the eastern border of the Bay Bay neighborhood, Arlington Street begins at Beacon Street next to the Public Gardens and runs south into
Bay Village. Originally it stopped at Boylston Street, but in 1912 it was extended south to Columbus Avenue. The original three blocks of Arlington Street are a bit of an anomaly in Boston: the street numbers run sequentially down the side of the street facing the Public Gardens, rather than alternating odd on one side and even on the other like most streets. With prime views overlooking some of the most scenic streetscapes in the Back Bay and the carefully landscaped Public Gardens, Arlington Street real estate is some of the most expensive in Boston.
