This three-story brick building was built in 1901. A renovation was performed in 1980. The 1925 City Directory lists Ruben Basmajian, a tailor; Hadgi Bosmojian, a tailor; Rubin Bosmojian, a tailor; Harry Koshcarian, a rubber worker; and Sarkis Meloian, real estate, as residents of 22 Weitz. Robert Borgeson, a painter; Elmer Torngren, a machinist; Harold Torngren, a salesman; and John Torngren, a carpenter, are listed as residents of 24 Weitz. The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows S. Melorian as the owner of this building. In 1930 22 Weitz was rented for $28 a month by Charles Mabardy, a 28-year old from Syria who worked as a clerk in a convenience store. Charles lived with his 25-year old wife Cathrine (also from Syria) and his two sons: 5-year old Michel and 4-year old Nicholas. Part of 24 Weitz was rented by Harry Simonian and his wife Alice for $32 a month. Harry and Alice were both 37 years old and from Armenia, Harry worked as a butcher. The other part of 24 Weitz was rented for $30 a month by Vartevan Sacounjian, a 35-year old house painter from Turkey. Vartevan lived with his 29-year old Turkish wife Anna and their four children: 7-year old son Torros; 5-year old Martin; 5-year old son Nicak ; and 8-month old Alice. | ||
