This brick multi-family house was built in 1890 and rises two stories to an asphalt roof.

The 1925 City Directory lists William Brown, a printer, as a resident of 5 Raymond. Melvin Johnson, a helper; and Carl Olson, an upholsterer, are listed as residents of 7 Raymond.

The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows J.S. Josephson as the owner of this house.

In 1930 this house was owned by Peter Hayes, a 39-year old post office clerk. Peter lived in 7 Raymond with his 28-year old wife Bessie and his 7-year old son Fredrick. 5 Raymond was rented for $35 a month by William Ready, a 44-year old letter carrier for the post office. William lived with his 32-year old Maine-born wife Margaret and their seven children: 8-year old William, 7-year old Paul, 6-year old Mary, 4-year old James, 3-year old John, 2-year old Corinne, and 9-month old Thomas. The building was valued at $8,000.
