This brick multi-family house was built in 1890 and rises three stories to an asphalt roof.

The 1924 City Directory lists Nicholas Innis, a janitor at the Washington Allston School, as a resident of 8 Pratt.

The 1925 City Directory lists Edward Innis, a janitor at the Washington Allston School; Frederick Lorway, a pressman; Joanna Lorway, the widow of John Lorway; John E. Lorway, a fireman with Enginer 47 of the Boston Fire Department; and Norman Lorway, a printer, as residents of 8 Pratt. Clarence Sherman; Edwin Stebbins, a machinist; and John Stebbins, a draftsman, are listed as residents of 10 Pratt.

The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows the Boston Consolidated Gas Company as the owner of this house.
