This brick multi-family house was built in 1900 and rises two stories to an asphalt roof.

The 1925 City Directory lists Hugh MacDonald, a plumber, as a resident of 8 Bayard.

The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows C.J. Coburn as the owner of this house.

In 1930 this house was owned by Lorenzo Mercer, a 57-year old house painter from Canada. Lorenzo lived in 6 Bayard with his 57-year old wife Lipporah (also from Canada) and his 21-year old son Mark, who worked as a driver for a newspaper. 8 Bayard was rented for $27 a month by Hugh MacDonald, a 46-year old maintenance worker in a department store. Hugh lived with his 43-year old wife Mary. The house was valued at $4,500.
