This brick multi-family house was built in 1890 and rises two stories to an asphalt roof.

The 1925 City Directory lists Timothy McCullough, a chauffeur, as a resident of 45 Bayard. Colin MacDonald, a carpenter; Colin MacDonald Jr, a tinsmith; and John MacDonald, a clerk, are listed as residents of 47 Bayard.

The 1925 Bromley Atlas shows S.C. MacDonald as the owner of this house.

In 1930 this house was owned by Colin MacDonald, a 65-year old carpenter. Colin lived in 47 Bayard with his 64-year old wife Sarah and four boarders: 28-year old Angus MacLellan, a carpenter for a railroad's repair department; 34-year old William Peters, a carpenter; 28-year old Joseph MacLean, a construction laborer; and 23-year old William MacLean. Colin, his wife, and all four boarders (who paid $10 a month each in rent) were born in Canada. The building was valued at $7,000. 45 Bayard was rented for $40 a month by John Kelley, a 34-year old letter carrier for the post office. John lived with his 36-year old wife Jane and his four children: 8-year old John, 7-year old Jane, 5-year old James, and 3-year old Paul.
